What to Do With Inspiration

“Keep your fears to yourself, but share your inspiration with others.”
Robert Louis Stevenson

There is not a man, woman, boy, or girl that has not had a moment of inspiration. What is inspiration? A time of motivation, an incitement, encouragement, creative thought, idea, and, the one I like best, divine influence. “But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.” – Job 32:8 ( KJV).

Many times it comes at a time when you are discouraged, when it seems like there is no way out, no hope, the odds are against you or the lights have gone out and you can’t see which way to go.

You cry, you grumble, you complain, you are disappointed, down in spirit and wonder if it is worth going on. And then it comes, just what you needed to make you smile and laugh again. Then you realize there is still hope, you can make it, it is worth living, and you can win in this game.

Well, I really want to focus on what to do when that moment comes. In the times of inspiration, you need to:

1. Utilize the energy and excitement – that comes along with it. Yes, it is like an athlete receiving that second wind. But what do you notice that athlete does? The runner runs with more passion, the boxer boxes with more energy, the baseball pitcher throws the ball with more steam, the swimmer strokes through the water with more force. My, what a little inspiration can do.

2. Create a picture and make a vision – from it. As human beings we tend to remember images better than mere words. Once you create an image, you have a dream and desire to hold on to.

Why is this necessary? When you are faced with discouraging times, you can focus on the picture you created and remember the reason you need to live. The thing about inspiration is, if you use it properly, you can create more moments of inspiration.

3. Work toward the goal – Having a picture or image is not good enough. Every individual has some dream inside them. You have to get it to come out. That is only possible by stirring it up and working it out. It’s like you are in a maze and you have to find the way out. Well, it can’t happen unless you try, retry, and try again. It’s not done until you see it in reality and you found the way out.

4. Share it with others – Carrying out this step can be hard at times because sometimes you don’t know who to trust. But there are some like-minded persons out there that are waiting to hear what you have to say and also share with you. Yes, you must talk to others because as you do this, you are making it known and God has some people in place to assist you in whatever needs to get done. So you can’t be afraid to share what dreams you have going on inside.

Finally, inspiration comes for a reason, for you to bring to reality what you imagined within. Therefore something must be done; “.. faith without works is dead also”– James 2:26 (KJV). Do you see yourself as an entrepreneur, successful in business, living in better health, receiving your college degree, having a better family, or becoming a better Christian? Regardless of what you see, remember it can’t be done without effort. You have to work it out and help make it happen.

Please let me know your thoughts and feedback on this.

Are you ready to face eternity? If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of your life and desire to make that commitment now please repeat the following prayer:

Lord Jesus be merciful to me a sinner. I realize that I have sinned against you and come short of your glory. I confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and I believe in my heart that God has raised him from the dead. I pray for your forgiveness and ask that you save me now and accept me into your kingdom. Give me eternal life today.
In Jesus Name, Amen.

  1. Camille says:

I’m a very sick girl. I feel drained from all these years battling lupus. I have been through all these pain. God has been there for me. He has carried me through. However, i am now growing weak in spirit. It has been 10 years with lupus. I want to go on and beat this but im now drained financially. I pray for a blessing. I pray for someone blessed and generous enough to help me. I need that hope and inspiration to move on and fight.

  2. James Edgecombe says:

    Hey Camille,
I want to remind you that God is still a healer. The man with the 38 years issue got his help (John 5:1-9) and the woman with issue of blood (12 yrs.) also spent all her finances but was healed by Christ through her faith (Luke 8:41-48). Be inspired not to let go. Thanks for sharing.
